International Expertise at the MEP: Workshop with Dr. Pedro de Souza

The Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP) at the Technical University of Munich was pleased to welcome Pedro de Souza, incoming Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), for a three‑day workshop in January 2026. He visited the MEP following an invitation from our Director, Prof. Sonja Berensmeier.

During his intensive stay, Pedro de Souza provided our researchers with in‑depth insights into the fundamental physical mechanisms underlying adsorption processes, particularly in the context of bioseparation. His explanations were supported by the derivation of numerous essential mathematical equations, which further sharpened the scientific understanding of these phenomena and offered valuable impulses for our ongoing research activities. Participating early‑career researchers took the opportunity to present their own questions and gain new perspectives for their work.
