TUM Cooperation Project SIB:DE
TUM.Battery News |
The SIB:DE initiative is investigating sodium-ion battery technology with regard to its suitability for the European energy and mobility transition. The goal is to lay the groundwork for a competitive German value chain, ranging from material production and electrode manufacturing to cell and system integration.
The initiative consists of the SIB:DE Research and SIB:DE Development projects:
- A total of 21 partners are participating in SIB:DE Research; on the TUM side, these include TEC, iwb, and IGCV. The goal is to establish the fundamentals of materials and processes, scale up active materials, electrolytes, and demonstrator cells, and lay the groundwork for SIB:DE Development.
- SIB:DE Development will investigate the scaling of production, the implementation of industrial cell manufacturing, and solutions for modules, systems, and recycling. In addition to TUM’s iwb, IGCV, and EES, 23 other partners are involved.
