The Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP) at the Technical University of Munich is delighted to welcome six new Core Members to its network. Following the decision of the TUM Executive Board on November 25, 2025, they have been appointed for a six-year term starting December 1st:
- Prof. Dr. Ghulam Destgeer (Control and Manipulation of Microscale Living Objects, CIT)
- Prof. Dr. David Egger (Theorie der Funktionalen Energiematerialien, NAT)
- Prof. Dr. Matthias J. Feige (Zelluläre Proteinbiochemie, NAT)
- Prof. Dr. Hristo L. Svilenov (Biopharmaceutical Technology, LS)
- Prof. Reinaldo Tonkoski, Ph.D. (Elektrische Energieversorgungsnetze, ED)
- Prof. Dr. techn. Jan Torgersen (Werkstoffwissenschaften, ED)
Core Members form the scientific backbone of the MEP. They drive interdisciplinary research, and make use of its infrastructure for collaborative projects. The MEP brings together three key research areas: 4D Materials and Additive Technologies, Sustainable Energy Systems, and Biomanufacturing and Process Engineering. These fields are closely interconnected and provide the foundation for innovations that intelligently link materials, energy, and processes.
“I am very pleased to welcome the new members to the circle of Core Members. They bring outstanding expertise and will further strengthen our network,” underscores Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Adams, Director of the MEP, in support of the Executive Board’s decision. “We are confident that in the coming years we will jointly expand the network, initiate new projects, and make optimal use of the excellent infrastructures of the MEP.”
With now 57 professors from TUM as Core Members, the MEP has a strong foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration. This network will continue to grow closer in the coming years and provide decisive impulses for research and innovation.
