At the Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP), we are establishing a digitalized cell culture laboratory. The new infrastructure will soon be available to all TUM members: from screening to scale-up at the 200-liter scale. This creates a central platform for pioneering research and development at TUM.
Why is this important? Cell culture bioprocesses are essential for the production of innovative biopharmaceuticals as well as for the development of sustainable food sources. Our concept of a digitally connected laboratory will make a significant contribution to intensifying and optimizing the production processes of novel biopharmaceuticals. Modeling approaches, process analytical technologies, and automation play a central role in ensuring efficient, robust, and scalable bioprocessing.
