IRIDIOS project started on March 3rd, 2023

"IRIDIOS – low-Ir high efficiency MEA (membrane electrode assembly) for PEM electrolysis stack in MW range" starts for TUM ENS and TUM TEC.

Within the IRIDIOS project, the production of low IR MEA will be scaled up and the effects of the economies of scale on single cell and short stack will be investigated in a demonstrator facility. Within the project, TUM-ENS will perform the life cycle analysis in order to evaluate the environmental impact of materials, components and processes. The main object of the investigation will be the carbon footprint of the produced hydrogen. Through upscaling, influences on certain parameters (e.g. lifetime and production quantities) are to be expected, which in turn are related to the environmental impact of hydrogen production. Life cycle analysis balances and quantifies these influences.
