New publication on hydrogen production in Egypt available

TUM.PtX News |

In a new paper from the ENS chair, we analyze the production of hydrogen in different locations in Egypt, including a feasibility study of transporting it to Germany.

Producing hydrogen in regions with high full load hours of solar and wind energy is advantageous to reduce production costs. In a case study in Egypt, this publication examines the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) of a combined PV and wind system for renewable hydrogen production for a specific investment volume and land use constraints. Additional costs arise from the subsequent transport to Germany. Depending on the scenario, the LCOH ranged from 7.2 to 12.3 €/kg.
