Research
Within the 4D Materials and Additive Technologies focus area at MEP, our attention is dedicated to a diverse range of projects that revolve around the dynamic interplay of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. Central is the numerical investigation of fluid-driven processes and the consequential influence of thermodynamics and fluid flow on the solid bodies, shaping the temporal evolution of material structures. Our research is distinguished by its multi-scale approach, encompassing macro-, meso-, and micro-level analyses, enabling us to unravel the intricate details of fluid flows. Leveraging state-of-the-art computational simulations within our own Scientific Computation Hub, our goal is to expand the knowledge in these domains, fostering innovations in engineering design and process optimization, e.g. in additive technologies or coating/cleaning processes.
